March 3, 2011 – Film Screening – “New Muslim Cool”

This post 9/11 documentary gives us insight into Muslim American rapper Hamza Perez’ journey to start a new religious community, rebuild his shattered family, and take his message of faith to other young people through his uncompromising music as part of the hip-hop duo M team. New Muslim Cool offers a look a Muslim American life in the 21st Century.

New Muslim Cool will begin screening at 7PM.

About the Series:

The questions are there, but they aren’t being asked. The issues are evident, but they aren’t being addressed. The misunderstandings continue to exist, but the record hasn’t been set straight. Until now. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Join Auburn Seminary, Central Synagogue, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York, and the Muslim Consultative Network for a multi faith film series that explores the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faith traditions. Each film offers a unique lens on the Abrahamic religions and promise to foster dynamic dialogue and interaction across faith lines.
